What Is HYROX?
HYROX is a fitness race that combines running and functional fitness workouts done in stations. Participants complete a one kilometer run, followed by one functional workout station, and repeat eight times. You have the option to compete solo, with a partner, or in a relay team. The event launched in Germany in 2017 and has since expanded to hosting competitions in more than 11 countries and over 30 cities worldwide. At the end of the race season, HYROX culminates in a World Championship for the top performers.
While the weights used vary based on gender and the type of race you’re doing, the functional workout stations are all the same and include:
1000-meter SkiErg
50-meter sled push
50-meter sled pull
80-meter burpee broad jumps
1000-meter row
200-meter farmer’s carry
100-meter sandbag lunges
100x wall balls

How to Train For HYROX With Peloton
With Peloton’s new Peloton x HYROX Collection, prepping for your race is easier than ever. These classes are specially curated to help you excel in the functional fitness stations as well as the running portions of the race. Here’s what you’ll find in the Collection, and how training with Peloton can level up your HYROX performance.
Build Stamina
You’ll need endurance to power through all aspects of your HYROX race, but especially to complete the total of eight kilometers (or 5.6 miles) you’ll run between stations. Train with a selection of Interval Runs, Endurance Runs, and Endurance Rides with longer efforts that will help increase stamina, so you can keep going full steam ahead.
Power Training
Rowing is a big part of HYROX, so taking a few Interval Row and HIIT Row classes with Peloton can help you prepare for race day. With this training under your belt, the SkiErg and row stations won’t know what hit ‘em!

Self-Powered Push
Free Mode on the Peloton Tread+ allows you to move the treadmill belt manually, using only the power your body can produce and without engaging the motor. It’s a spectacular challenge for building full body power and endurance, plus an excellent way to prepare for the Sled Push and Sled Pull stations of HYROX.
Foundational Strength
Overall strength is critical for competing in HYROX—you’ll need to be ready for weighted exercise like sandbag lunges and farmer’s carries, and do it all on legs that have already run a few miles. In Peloton’s Full and Lower Body Strength classes and Bootcamps on the Bike, Tread, and Row, you’ll build the strength and stamina needed to complete these challenging fitness stations.
Recovery & Mental Stamina
Your physical fitness is just one piece of the puzzle. Bring your best on rest day by prepping with mobility and Yin yoga designed to keep your body in tip-top shape, plus meditation classes that’ll help you build the mental toughness needed to compete.
Adaptive Athletes
HYROX is for everyone, and so is Peloton. You’ll find a selection of our Adaptive Training classes in this collection, taught by Peloton instructor and HYROX finisher Logan Aldridge. There are classes in both seated and standing formats that’ll help you build the functional fitness needed to complete the race.
