We’re Breaking Ground: Dispatch from Peloton Output Park

We had the honor of breaking ground at Peloton Output Park in Troy Township, Ohio on August 9. Alongside Ohio-based Peloton Members and the Troy Township community, we officially started building POP!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we kicked off the event with fare from local food trucks. Iron Bean Coffee from Perrysburg kept the crowd energized with hot and cold beverages. Lyle’s Crepes from Toledo dished up sweet and savory crepes and Greenhorn Bluffton hailing from Bluffton wowed the crowd with local, organic plant-based options.
Peloton’s CEO John Foley welcomed guests and reminisced about his time on the Mars factory floor. He was followed by Governor Mike DeWine, U.S. Representative Bob Latta, Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, and JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef, Senator Theresa Gavarone, Representative Haraz Ghanbari, Regional Growth Partnership President Dean Monske, Wood County Commissioner Doris Herringshaw, and Troy Township Trustee Skip Recker.
As a special surprise, Peloton’s President William Lynch closed out the event and announced a new partnership with a Toledo-based nonprofit.
Through our anti-racist commitment, the Peloton Pledge, we’re activating inclusive communities around fitness. We've been working hard to live up to the commitment and in April announced our partnership with Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national nonprofit dedicated to closing racial health, wealth and opportunity gaps, and their partner The Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco), a Black-led affordable housing developer and community development organization in the Bronx. We’re thrilled to bring our work with LISC into the local community right here in Ohio! We're partnering with LISC and the Wayman D. Palmer Community YMCA in Toledo to transform the YMCA exercise room into an inviting, well-equipped center for wellness by installing Peloton connected fitness equipment later this year. This investment in the center complements other programming and partnerships that the YMCA is expanding to ensure everyone in the community has opportunities for holistic health and wellness.

It wouldn’t be a Peloton event without our Instructors and Members. Yoga and meditation instructor Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts and cycling instructor Tunde Oyeneyin joined the festivities. Chelsea emceed the event and spoke about her Ohio roots and Tunde brought her signature energy and spirit to meet Members and talk all things Peloton.
Members from all over the Northwest Ohio region helped us celebrate this milestone for Peloton. About a dozen Members traded Peloton stories and bonded over PRs. We were lucky to also welcome Lori Roth. Lori has been a Member since 2015 and hosted the very first Peloton Home Rider Invasion, which has become Homecoming - the annual Peloton Member event.

We want to thank our partners in the state of Ohio, Wood County and Troy Township including our speakers, JobsOhio, Regional Growth Partnership, and Rudolph Libbe. This is just the first step in our work to become part of the Troy Township community and to make POP the best employer in the region. If you’re interested in joining the POP community, you can stay updated on the latest job opportunities here.
